Purnoham Vimarsha: The Question of Identity

Thursday Feb 13, 7-9:30pm

"Purnoham Vimarsha: The Question of Identity"

Since the Ram Dass movie “Becoming Nobody”, which we have seen on two WYC movie nights and intend to show one more time on February 29th in honor of his passing, we have enjoyed a heightened focus on the effect of transient identity on the evolution of our own inner consciousness.

Acquired identities start as soon as we are born and become deeply embedded as we are slowly educated throughout childhood. And while very young children often answer the question "who are you?” with the spontaneous freshness of " I’m ME!”, as we mature, much attaches to the pure "I AM” including profession, status, nationality, religion, race, education, family, reputation and more. How do we navigate in life with this complex identity and at the same time not be bound by it? How do we hold this “persona” more lightly while remaining fully engaged in all we have chosen for ourselves in our lives? Come explore with us.

Satsang is an evening of high energy with Rudrani, the WYC Director. This monthly program includes group meditation, chanting, yoga philosophy, spiritual teachings and an exploration of the theme of the month. All are welcome. No prior experience needed.
