"Placing our best efforts for a Happy New Year"
Happy 2019!
We have begun a fresh New Year on our calendar, which is an invitation to start anew on our journey with renewed purpose and a fully refurbished and fresh mind set!
Yet how to tame this mind of ours and make it new?
Yoga scriptures describe the mind as “a drunken monkey bitten by a scorpion!” “मर्कटस्य सुरापानं मध्ये वृश्चिकदंशनं । तन्मध्ये भूतसंचारो यद्वा तद्वा भविष्यति” Somewhat comforted to know that this is not a new challenge for human beings – and although no one seems to know from which scripture this comes –we are assured it is very ancient.
As we sail into 2019, where shall we put our best efforts to create this fresh start? Should we make some new years resolutions and call it a day?
Can the mind really ever become a steady flame in a windless chamber as the Bhagavad Gita says it can? Can we become fully conscious, present, poised moment to moment for what lies ahead for ourselves and the world? Can we really dissolve our illusions, internal suffering and egoic limitations and hold all the highs and lows in the boundless container of our own true Self?
Let's come gather to welcome 2019 together and explore this through discussion and practice. Everyone is welcome.
