"Self Love and the Role of Well Wisher"
We need support in our journey in life and loved ones play an important role in all the periods of our lives. The question is what kind of support do we most need?
Supposing we have had a dispute with our boss and feelings of unworthiness have set it. A friend hears our story and says "well personally I have never liked your boss from the moment I met him-“, taking what is perceived as your side in the dispute as an ally. Chances are this will not feel helpful to you as a seeker of truth. We really want to know how to manage recurring unworthiness within ourselves and how to let such feeling pass through us rather than be brought down by them. We really want to get to the bottom of our part in the encounter and see how to stay more aligned with our own higher purpose and less reactive to the personality traits of others. A friend who is partial to us and takes our side is not a friend in the deepest sense on our journey though it is easy to be attached to people who agree with us. What we really need is someone pointing to the opportunity these incidents provide in awakening from the dream of ego. The companion who knows our true intention in life and who shares our highest aspiration is called a well wisher and is a blessing on the path. The sages say that we must have good company on the path, well wishers that give us the ultimate friendship. They say it cannot be done without authentic self love. Let us explore how to establish self love on the path so that we attract good company. Good company is the greatest blessing on our spiritual journey.
