July 4 is when we honor the throwing off of colonial rule, a political freedom we fought hard to gain in our country's past. This is a time to enjoy fireworks in the night sky and celebrate with loved ones– that is the outer part of this holiday! As we dive headlong into this celebration, let’s savor the inner part of it too! Let’s explore our Inner Independence– beyond externals, where we taste true freedom that can never be lost. Let us gather this Summertime holiday-weekend to practice together, to enjoy beautiful inner fireworks in our meditations, and Inner Independence on the mat!
